How you feel about yourself and the way you look affects your relationship with yourself and the one you love. Media capitalises on our insecurities and largely because of this, many of us spend most our lives feeling ugly and insecure and therefore enable to fully enjoy our relationships, love and romance.
How often does a first date centre more around the way you look than the excitement of meeting and getting to know someone potentially quite spectacular or the fun you could have together?
SHOCKING STATISTICS (Canadian study):
• While 13% of girls (ages 10-14) are comfortable calling themselves ‘beautiful’, this number slides to 6% for girls ages 15-17 and to only 3% for women (ages 18-64); the percentage of girls who claim to be confident declines from 76% of girls 10-14 to only 56% of girls 15-17.
How do you feel about the way you look first thing in the morning? What do you see when you look yourself in the mirror? Do you look for spots? Wrinkles? Bags under your eyes? In general make a mental note about everything your unhappy about?
If this is your routine, perhaps it is time for an inside-out full body make over that you can do within minutes using the power of your mind.
Think about it. What is more beautiful…
A model feeling confident because she’s wearing designer clothes?
A grandmother smiling at her grandchild’s first steps?
Here are my top 5 tips for instant beauty from within:
The 5 P’s
Positive self-talk. If you are used to criticising yourself every time you look at yourself in the mirror, then stick your tongue out at your inner critic and laugh!
Purpose. People who have a strong sense of purpose radiate a natural confidence that makes them beautiful. Allow your passion to guide you to your purpose!
Peace. Be at peace with yourself and everyone around you. Your calm and harmonious disposition is beautiful and will attract people to you.
Poise. How would you walk if you were completely confident at comfortable in your own skin? Why wait! Straighten your back and hold your head up now… then smile!
Playfulness. The more you play, the younger you feel… And guess what? The younger you feel, the younger you look!
It’s true that all the best things in life are free and this is equally true of beauty, so think twice before you spend a fortune on the latest anti-wrinkle cream. Have fun instead and take advice from one of the most beautiful women who ever lived, Audrey Hepburn:
“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”
