Invoking Love – Tarot Ritual

Tarot is a tool that lends itself very well to ritual use. Rituals are, among other things, a way for humans to embody and integrate archetypes. Once the influence of archetypes moves from the realm of the subconscious into waking consciousness, we become empowered to contain and direct our own energy and power fully.

One definition of this process is ‘magic.’

Here is a little Tarot Love ritual you can do to embody and integrate the energy of The Empress in the Tarot Major Arcana.

The Empress is the Mother archetype. Some of her qualities are:

force of nature
fertile (for abundance and creativity as well as pregnancy)

Read through this list a couple of times and pick three key words to focus on for the ritual.

In a ritual, The Empress archetype can open us to the love that flows freely in nature and help clear any blocks imposed by the rational mind.

The great thing about this ritual is that all you need is a deck of Tarot cards.

Separate the Empress out from the other cards.

Cast the circle, big enough for you to lie down, by laying out the four Aces in each cardinal direction:

The Ace of Swords (Air) in the East.
The Ace of Wands (South) in the South.
The Ace of Cups (Water) in the West.
The Ace of Pentacles (Earth) in the North.

Call on the guardian or Archangel for each quarter as you lay out the Aces:

Raphael for the East
Michael for the South
Gabriel for the West
Uriel for the North

Lie down and place your head in the direction which feels most empowering to you. For instance, if you feel low on Fire, face South. If you are in need of grounding, face North. If you are out of touch with your emotions, face West and if you need mental clarity, face East.

Now take the Empress card and place it over your heart, face down. Recite the following invocation three times:

Venus, Queen of Love, heal my heart and guide me to True Love within. As within, so without. As within, so without. As within, so without.

Visualise emerald green light flow through the heart of The Empress into your heart and out through every cell of your body.

Go with the flow and allow your intuition to guide you. You will know when the transmission has finished.

Take a few deep breaths, sit up, thank The Empress and the Angels. It is done.

  1. Hi Lisa,

I have read your posts and found them informative for me as I can learn a lot from them. I am also a tarot reader and I feel happy to learn from others regarding free tarot etc.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, feedback and questions. Please note that, while I'm happy to answer questions about individual cards, I don't interpret spreads. I get several requests every day about interpreting DIY readings based on my spreads. Even if I had the time, I don’t think it would be a wise investment of my time to ‘read on readings’ – A reading is done in synergy between the cards, the question and the reader… in the MOMENT.
